SEO process blogs for beginners / newbies

So far, all my ranks (the few I have) I have seen only in Google. I have been having not so bad ranking for some of my keywords. I wasn’t worried because I figured the ranks will only increase with further SEO.

Problem is, 2 days ago I changed my Wordpress blog theme. Now this morning I find that 3 of my most dear keyphrases have slid way down on Google. Three days ago, I recorded my latest Google stats (ten results per page):

Now, tell me how shitty you think that is! Trying to locate keyphrase # 3 in Google was the worse. What’s so bad is that one of the searches lands on my Wordpress login page. I have to use the robots.txt file to put a stop to that ASAP. It’s like I redesigned my website and everything got screwed up. Honestly, I’m not phased. I know I’m gonna regain the ranks, so it’s all good.

I submitted an SEO Mommy story to Digg and created an account on Technorati. Let’s see if that will help get the ball rolling and getting the word out. I have to submit to more blog directories and get more active in the social network scene. But for now, this is just a start. Let’s see how it goes.

When I first heard about this Digg business a few months ago, I would submit stories like crazy and check them every few minutes to see how many diggs I received. I never received more than 10 diggs for one story. I got tired and now I don’t even bother drive myself crazy. It’s a waste of time. Maybe I didn’t ‘got the stuff’. So now, if people wanna digg, or technorati my stories, that’s great, but I won’t be going insane seeing if I gather those votes. It’s crazy!

Hey, I’m back again. I’m now number 20 on Google for the phrase ’seo process for beginners’. Ain’t that cool? I was number 67 when I checked seven days ago. It’s obvious that search engine result has to do with the fact that the title of the page has “SEO process” in it, and that last week when I wrote about being number 67 on Google for that keyphrase, the post had the phrase “seo process for beginners” in it. At least, I moved up, and I’m convinced that as long as I do what I have to do, I’ll just continue to move up on the search engines.

By the way, I’m not even showing up in MSN or Yahoo! for “SEO Mommy” or any other terms . How stinky is that? You can run, Yahoo! and MSN, but you can’t hide.

I checked my Google Analytics statistics for SEO Mommy. I’m a bit confused and so I have to take some time to tutor myself on how Google Analytics really works. I’ve been using it to check site stats for a while but I haven’t really checked the nitty gritty of it.

I also started reading up how to make my own Joomla! template. This is just to increase my knowledge of Joomla! since a lot of the sites I work with are built in Joomla! I’m trying to do more learning in my spare time by going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier to read more. Then I can implement what I learn or read up on when on the job. I’ve only really gotten up early to study from last week, and so far, its been easy.

I discovered recently how limited one can be with using a content management system like Joomla! We’re working on improving the look of a website and alot of the formatting, I couldn’t do with HMTL in Dreamweaver because one of the main areas I had to format was already part of a Joomla! component. I guess with the CMSs you can take it only so far. Take it as it is.

I haven’t started on working to improve the look of my site, but I plan to, really soon. Need to brush up on my CSS skills.

Can you believe (some of you might) that I searched for ‘guadeloupe french nationality law’ on Google today and a post I wrote in a forum on Jul 19, 2007, 12:02 PM came second in the search engine results? Well, that’s swell. That just goes to remind us SEO beginners that we can usually rank high for (dare I say ‘any’) search terms that we might not even know we rank for. In this case, it wasn’t even my site, but another. So, now had anyone typed ‘guadeloupe french nationality law’ or ‘french nationality law’ in Google, Ask Me Help Desk would have been number 2 for the first phrase and number 17 for the latter on Google.

Today, I see that I’m number 67 on the Google search engine for the keyphrase “seo process for beginners”. That makes me glad, because this is exactly what my site is about. Great! When I see these things happening, that just motivates me more although I know there is so much more to be done and achieved. I’m happy. I know that the rank for this keyprhase will only increase in time.

By the way, I’m doing the SEO for the Lucy and Pepe porn site. I know that I have a lot of work cut out for me. The porn industry is very competitive. I tried the free trial from Wordtracker, but I didn’t get very far today. So I have to review this keyword selection tool. It does bring up keyterms/phrases that you might not have considered, though.

I noticed that I’m ranking really well for the term “seo process for newbies” on Google- number 2. So I’m glad for that. I did some more SEO reading today. I also tried to figure out a new, simple way to come up with keywords, instead of busting my brain. But I’m starting off okay I think. I am also going to change the css file for my blog Wordpress template. It sucks as it is now.

Oh, I’m keeping in mind that keywords should be included in my content where appropriate. Keeping this thought in mind, writing this ‘freestyle’ blog seems so natural.
